Child Exploitation crackdown on Pattaya Human Trafficking gangs

PATTAYA:--The Pawina Foundation in association with Nongprue Police, Banglamung Police, The Department of Special Investigations (DSI), Immigration Police and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security conducted an operation targeting 3 locations on Friday, thought to have connections with Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking.

The first location was a luxury house at the Paradise Hill 2 estate in Soi Kao Noi. Khun Sutee aged 40 claimed he was responsible for the house and inside was a 42 year old Cambodian, Miss Gia, who could not produce any passport or ID Card.

At the second location, a row of rented rooms also in Soi Kao Noi, a 45 year old woman and a 7 year old child were detained inside one of the rooms. They could not produce any documents confirming their nationality. The DSI had been following them for some time and saw them begging for money at a nearby market and bars nearby. Neighbors also suggested the woman would strike the child if she returned home without enough money. The Pawina Foundation agreed to take-in the child as Police determine if the adult and child are related or not.

The headline is not justified by the report below it. These homes could be any Thai home at present (i.e. being occupied by poor Asian people who seem to speak and appear to be Thai, or Thais employing foreign, Asian people, who have no paperwork, and whacking kids for no reasons).

Using phrases and words in the headline like "crack-down" and "gangs", respectively, blows this story out of proportion and demonstrates very poor journalism.

The first location was a "gang" of one owner and one illegal.

The second location was one room, in a row of rooms, occupied by a "gang" of one older woman and a seven years old child. What is odd about this is that the woman probably spoke fluent Thai, appeared physiologically to be Thai, who happens to be poor, and hence cannot produce (as probably 98% of all poor Thais cannot produce) any paperwork proving their nationality, birth record, or etc.

It's good to know that the DSI and these other waste of human life groups are protecting national security in this manner.

I think the point is that it's easy to arrest someone for being foreign and without proper paperwork but not so easy to arrest someone for being Thai.

This really has to be some sort of joke. I would agree 100% with cup-o-coffee in his earlier post about sensationalizing headlines.

However, we appear to have six separate departments working together and managing to come up with these results? They should be cringing with this report. i would love to see the man-hour figures for this.........rolleyes.gif

You do not kill the giant by tickling it's toes, you kill it by hacking off it's head. Until Thailand recognizes this or a similar concept, right across the board, then nothing is going to change soon.

But we already know that, right?

So many people in the carpark to find one illegal maid.....outstanding job boys......

There are beggers just about ever where in Pattaya, some with small children. Is it such a hard job to watch these people , and see who picks them up, at the end of the day or night, and follow them. Do Thai police really investigate anything, or pick up the poor people, that are easy pickings, and then deport them?

Or go down Walking Street at 3am and see how many beggar kids there are
