Apple ID

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is the right place but here does, my gf has an Apple IPhone, she tried to do updates but a strange email address has appeared above where she should enter her password, have never seen this email address before, what is going on?

We will go to the apple store later as I can not work out or understand why and where this strange email address has suddenly appeared from!

My guess it's the email address of the person who registered the phone in the 1st place.

Phone shops normally do that for you, but I always decline and rather do it myself.

These might help:

or

But:

If this is for a specific app or apps, keep in mind that any apps purchased with a different Apple ID are permanently tied to that Apple ID.

That makes sense, my gf bought the phone from a friend so I guess it's her or her bf's email, my gf is going to call her friend to get the password for that email address! cheers.

Same thing happened with my iPad which I bought at Tukcom. It had the store's ID when I tried to connect to the app downloader. Problem is usually solved by registering your own ID with the iTunes store and then connecting the device to your PC or laptop and using it that way. At least that's how it worked for me. After I did that, the store ID on the iPad seemed to just vanish, never to be seen again, and now I can connect direct to iTunes through my own user ID. Hope that helps.

Settings -> App Store -> current account -> sign out. Then sign in with your ID. It's worth noting that you won't be able to update any apps that came with the phone since they were installed under somebody else's account. You can always delete them and download again using your own account. Except for flappy bird, of course.
