Drivers license for a car, holding a motorbike license

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

six month ago I made a license for a motorbike in Pattaya. I passed ALL the tests.

Now I need a car drivers license(holding a German drivers license, but not an international one).

My question is: Since all the tests for the motorbike license have been made just half a year ago, will I have to undergo all these tests again, or

will it just be the practical part for the car?

I know I will need new confirmation of residency and health.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

With my Canadian DL I just went in and got a Thai DL, no tests were needed other than color and reaction tests. You still need a medical certificate though and all the other paperwork, same as for the bike license.

If your German driving license is in English you might get it converted without the IDP.

When I took the test here in Thailand 8 years ago the tests for the bike and car where separate with the car test had 10 more questions.

If you can convert your German DL to a Thai one that is the easiest way.

If that does not work (not in English or the DLT does not want to) you have to go through the whole procedure again.
