Thailand shares a historical admiration of uniformed dictators. Plaek Phibulsonkhram admired Mussolini so much he introduced military style uniforms for those in public office.

It does actually. If it was a Thai driver, he or she has no idea of who Hitler was. If it was a Farang, it is one serious nutter.

Buddhist swastika ??

It's actually an hindu religious symbol .

The word swastika in sanskrit means all is well.

The Adolf pic is taking the piss.

..........///............. It remains widely used in Indian religions, specifically in Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism, primarily as a tantric symbol that invokes Lakshmi - the Vedic goddess of wealth, prosperity and auspiciousness...............///...............

This is about Hitler/Nazis, not eastern religious symbols. Duh!

Ohh OK,... that makes it alright then.

I'm so sorry I disturbed your quiet afternoon with this futility that better can be ignored.

I saw a truck with Sylvester Stallone as Cobra mud flaps. Those never seem to go out of style either.

The point is that most Thais have no idea what Hitler or Nazis represent to Westerners. It is like when someone in the West does something stupid concerning a Buddha figure, like putting it on a shoe - cultural ignorance with no ill intent.

Perhaps because fiction eh............smile.png

Hitler would've committed suicide earlier if he'd found himself on the back of Fortuner.

This is the same truck I mentioned in a similar topic. What a complete idiot.

I've also seen Serpico ones. I think it has a deep and meaningful relevance to Thais. They are, after all, expected to know what they mean.

Once a few blue suede shoes have keyed his car he'll get the message and get one with Hello Kitty on it instead.

When criticizing Thais for knowing nothing about that evil bastard Hitler, bear in mind that - much closer to home - most Thais have never even heard of the Rape of Naking. This is Doraemon, Hello Kitty land.

I seriously - very seriously - doubt that the Thais would have rounded the Cape of Good Hope and found Europe yet if we hadn't done it for them.

I still love Thailand and its people, but don't expect them to know (or care very much) about Nazis, anti-Semitism or European fascism. It really ain't sanuck!

A two digit iq paired with extreme shallowness is indeed a serious problem.

Yes, how many times are we going to do this?

Maybe it should become a pinned topic.

A tin of Spray paint would take care of this easily.coffee1.gif

That reminds me, must buy same brake fluid for top up.....................thumbsup.gif

Maybe the person who drives it is Palestinian.

Except that President Muhammad Abbas just last week just denounced the 'Final Solution' as the most heinous crime in human history. Give some credit where due - the Palestinians are paying for the crimes of Nazi Germany, which may be 'facts on the ground', but really isn't fair.

It's actually an old Dutch guy. Wouldn't exactly call him a friend of mine. But I know him well enough. Nice enough guy, just likes being a bit dramatic in order get people a bit riled up. smile.png
