Hey Everyone

I have a three entry tourist visa.

I came from Bangkok to Koh Phangan last week for the full moon party and tomorrow I am going to Phuket.

I was packing my bag and I looked at my passport. I have just noticed a small blue square stamp on the departure card (TM.6) stapled inside my passport. The stamps says:

Admitted Until 14 May 2014.

When the embassy gave me my visa they told me it was good for 6 months.

What does that little admitted until stamp mean?

That is the date you should of left the country on.

A tourist visa only gives you a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days. The 6 months they told you about is only length of time you can use the visa to enter the country and get a new entry.

You could possibly go to immigration and pay an overstay fine of 500 baht per day and apply for the 30 day extension (1900 baht). If you could do it today the fine would be 1000 baht. If not today you would not be able to do it until Monday.

Or you should do a border run to get a new entry and pay the overstay fine when you leave the country

Why would I want to leave Thailand. I have to meet my friend in Phuket tomorrow. Why did they tell me a have a 6 month visa. I have just spoken to a travel agent here on the Island and they told me I have to go to immigration in Phuket when I get there. Is immigration open on Saturdays. Is there a business or someone in Phuket that I can pay to take care of this. My friend has her hens night on Sunday. Why is this stamp so small and hidden on the departure card...it is so ridiculous... There is no stamp about this date on my visa!!!!!

whether you want to leave or not..... is up to you dear

Fact is in immigrations eyes you should have left 2 days ago and you are now on an overstay and they are charging you THB 500/day for the privilege

Immigration offices are not typically open on a Saturday, it not a 6 month visa....the 6 months refers to the validity of the visa, not the amount of time you can spend in Thailand on a single trip...the permission to stay stamp tell you how long you can remain in Thailand before you have to leave or get an extension in country...

As to the size of the stamp, it ain't that small....wink.png ....one suspects you just never looked that's all

Just put aside your distress and deal with the facts. You are on overstay and you need to fix it asap. If the first opportunity is to go the Immigration office in Phuket on Monday, then do so. Be prepared to pay 5 x 500 baht for the fine and 1900 baht to extend your Permission To Stay for 30 days. At that time you will need to leave Thailand and immediately re-enter to get a second round of 60 days plus an optional 30.

You have the choice of making a border crossing or doing the extension. Immigration is not open on weekends.

They told you 6 months so that you would be aware that you had 6 months to use all the entries. There is a date on your visa sticker that has enter before next to it that is 6 months from when your visa was issued.

Inside your passport near your visa you will find another stamp that says the same thing.

Where are you going to be today, There is an immigration office in Samui and another one in Surat Thani.

Hot Blonde, "ADMITTED" in the arrival stamp in your passport and on the departure portion of your arrival card is used by immigration as a synonym for "permitted", as in "permitted to stay"

The embassy told you told you the visa was "good for 6 months" because that's what it is, namely valid for travel to Thailand before the expiry date shown on the visa which, if you check, you will find is six months after the issue date of the visa. See also this information on the website of the Immigration Bureau:

What does the visa expiration date mean?

I just read the Phuket forum that one guy Old Croc worked in Immigration.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/726058-the-new-visa-enforcements/page-4

He checked out the details of a Russian girl on facebook who also had a problem with her visa and he arrested some Asians. Can I contact Old Croc on facebook. I am happy to pay him to fix my visa problem with immigration. How much does he charge and where is his office in Phuket?

He is only a volunteer. He can do nothing to fix your problem.

You don't have a problem with your visa. You have a problem with overstaying your permit to stay. The only thing that can take care of it is to pay the overstay and apply for an extension,

Or you could make border a run to Ranong this weekend and pay the fine and use your 2nd entry..

When you do your trip, there are plenty of companies who will take you to Ranong and arrange the crossing to Burma/Myanmar. I guess these days they will be happy with your custom.

Will the new "in and out" visa enforcement effect the OP doing a Visa run to Ranong ?

I am in Patong now. <deleted> I spoke to a nice Thai lady at my hotel and she told me that immigration is miles away in the middle of the island? She has good english. A red taxi near my hotel told me he wanted 1700THB to take me there this afternoon. What a rip off joke!!!! Is it safe to catch a taxi here...the guys don't look good. A scummy travel agent told me I have to go on a bus up to Burma? But he also said there is some problem with the government blocking people coming back into Thailand. What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a six month visa why for Thailand. Why do I have to go to another country. Ridiculous. Is it safe to go on the bus trip, will it be full of creepy guys. Anyway I need some one to sort this issue, I guess I have to do something on Tuesday as we will be partying like legends on Sunday and Monday will be a write off.

Please stay on topic in your posts.

Just remember you are on overstay now that it costing you 500 baht a day. You are also no longer legally in the country because your permit to stay has run out.

It is not problem to do a crossing at the border with Myanmar now. You should check for a visa run service that goes to the Andaman club. It costs a bit more than the other crossing but is a bit different crowd that uses it. You should have a look on the Phuket forum for info.

You can still try getting your extension at immigration. But that would only delay you having to leave the country for less than 30 days now.

You have to do border a crossing or fly out and back to use the remaining 2 entries of your visa.

Thanks Joe. You are the only one who is trying to help. Why did you edit what I said about Patong. Why am I not allowed to say there are lots of traffic and mud and everything is broken. I am not lying. Have you ever seen this place. I have googled the Andaman club. It is a casino. Why in the name of God does the Thai government want me to go to a casino in another country just so I can stay in Patong. Are they insane? What happens if I get trapped in Burma. I would be alone. Is it safe??????????

Just listen to advice given: do a run to Burma, either casino or non-casino, both are ok, or go to immigration asap.

If you think your own activities are more important than the issue at hand, your choice, but choices have consequences.

I just dieted the entire sentence rather than chopping it up.

There is a boat that goes to the Andaman club. There is Thai immigration at the boat dock for departure and return. And there is the same for the Myanmar side. You do not even have to go inside the casino if you don't want to.

You will not be trapped in Myanmar. You have a valid tourist visa so you don't need to pay any attention to the "crackdown" news.

In order to use your visa you have the leave the country enter another country, depart it and re-enter Thailand that is how any visa works.

What does that little admitted until stamp mean?

It means you should have left Thailand 2 days ago

I am truly amazed at some of the posts listed here. "admitted until means just that! admitted until which ever date you have stamped. you had better be out of the country on that date or the Thai's will deport and fine you for overstay! could you not figure that out on your own?

Just a quick chime in before you find yourself in the IDC. Whatever you do, DO NOT get bitchy and pushy when you see immigration. When they ask for the fine, don't kick up a fuss, and start yelling at them how ridiculous this is, because your VISA is valid for 6 months. If you push your luck too much, you'll end up in the IDC for a few days to calm down.

When you see an immigration officer next, they're going to ask for a fine (500 baht/day). Pay it with a smile, and move on with your life.

Very very good advice.

Don't get stressed out over the overstay part Hot Blonde all that happens is they take you to a desk away from all the fuss and ask if you have the necessary amount of they're on a good mood they won't count the day you cough up.

The maximum you can be fined is 20000 baht regardless of the overstay period. I pay the fine all the time as I spent 6 weeks out and 6 weeks in and haven't got round to sorting out the paperwork to apply for a retirement visa, the immigration police I've dealt with at swampy have never been anything but courteous polite and very civil and have never given me any grief either, we chat about why I'm here ( now have Thai wife) and they're always very helpful too.

The tourist visa is normally just a 30 day one unless you get a longer one from the Thai consulate in your home country. In the 2 years I've been in and out of Thailand my visa has always been 30 days, I'm actually departing Thailand tonight for work again and have my fine all ready to hand over. Don't get too worked up about it, they're not demons the Russian girl I believe they suspect she was working without a permit due to the number of the in/out visa crossings she had done, it's not something a tourist would do ;)

Actually you can be in the country until 23:59 and 59 seconds on the "admited until" date and still be legal.
