"Mae Tao Clinic: Going Forward" Topic at Saturday's CEC Meeting

Eh Thwa Bor, Asst. Director of Operations at Dr. Cynthia Maung's well-regarded clinic in Mae Sot will speak on "Mae Tao Clinic: Going Forward" at the next General Meeting of the Chiang Mai Expats Club, Saturday, May 24, Le Meridien Hotel. Gather at 10 am for 10:30 am start.

Eh Thwa Bor has been assisting clinic founder Dr. Cynthia in providing good quality medical care to the Burmese refugees of the Mae Sot region since the founding of the clinic in the late 1980s. Today Mae Tao Clinic is much more than a community hospital; the training center, school, boarding houses and outreach programs in the region serve thousands of stateless refugees each year.

Eh Thwa Bor will explain why the stateless people served by the clinic are reluctant or unable to return to Myanmar despite improvements in that country in recent years. She will also discuss how the situation in Myanmar has changed international perception of the work of the clinic.

The meeting is open to the public. 120 baht for members; 170 baht for non-members.
