Hi all,

I am new to this forum and thank you in advance for any replies.

I am married to a Thai national and have obtained a Non-Immigrant O, Multiple entry visa from the Thai consulate in Singapore. I showed sufficient funds in my bank account in Singapore and was told that I do not need to show anything within Thailand. Upon entry into the country, I was given a 3 month stamp.

Am i right to say that from hereon, all I need to do is do a 90 day report, or is there more that I need to do that I am unaware of?

yes, many things you are unaware of...

you have a Visa to stay in Thailand for 90 days. Within that timeframe, you have to apply for an "extension to stay based on marriage" or otherwise leave Thailand within the timeframe given to you within the Visa.

Only after you receive the "extension to stay" you will have to do the 90d address reporting.

For the necessary documents and funds (in a THAI bank), just google and you will find that you will need a LOT of things to get that.

Your visa only gives you a 90 day permit to stay meaning you must leave the country every 90 days.

You would only make 90 day reports if you had a one year extension of stay based upon marriage obtained at immigration. You can apply for the extension during the last 30 days of any your 90 day entries. You will to have 400k baht in a Thai bank for 60 days or proof of 40K baht income.

Not only 400,000 Baht but the necessary papers required and the fact that your wife will need to be with you when you apply for the extension and even then it is not complete until you have the stamp in your passport.

There is plenty of info on all of this on TV but it is not always simple. It depends on the immigration officials you have to deal with.

Hi, your situation is exactly the same as mine. wink.png

ubonjoe (#3) explanation is clear & loud.

"90 day report" is not required for your current visa as it is for an one-year extension at local immigration.

"90 day border run" is mandatory for you (and me too!). You need to exit/re-entry at any border checkpoints. Make sure you leave before the stamped date to be expired.

That is all!

When both visa date / stamped date will be expired, you will need to decide whether to apply for the 1-year extension at local immigration or apply the new visa at embassy.

This is not quite correct ( "90 day border run" is mandatory) What you can do is just before you permission to stay stamp runs out go to Immigration and get a 60day extension to visit wife, then after this is finished go do your border run, and again after that is finished go get an extension to visit wife again, this gives you 5 month between boarder runs.

For Thai 12-month non-imm-O visa, he must do the border run every 90 days (before each stamped date). And the maximum length of the stay will be 15 months & this visa is validated for 12 months as shown in the visa label . I think you mean a 60 day extension is an extra option after visa is completed.

totally incorrect (For Thai 12-month non-imm-O visa, he must do the border run every 90 days) I am afraid you need to learn how visa's and extensions work.

I think you misread what he wrote, He was writing it would not be possible to do the 60 day extension for each 90 day entry because he was under the impression that the extension could not be done until the visa had expired. Which is incorrect.

I merely say these words based on my recent experience. In fact I have not used my 60-day extension and I am surprised this is possible. So it must be good for visa users including myself. Thanks. At the moment, I have no problems with border runs so far. Touch the woods!

If you do not know do not post, ask the question? as it is clear you do not understand thai immigration or visa/extensions.

You did not mention that the 2-month extension (to visit Tha wife) is just the option. Besides, I believe this forum aims for expats to share good/bad experience. That is why I decide to contribute my experience although this is not a professional advice. Therefore it is up to the viewers who can either agree or disagree. wai.gif
