chooka
I tried to donate blood in Thailand but they wouldn't take it. This was at the Chiangmai Ram Hospital and I was told that a farang needs a full medical and a report from a doctor back home. I know my blood is clean and thought fair enough if you don't want it I'll keep it. Maybe there is not a demand for B neg in Thailand.
Jonmarleesco
I tried to donate blood in Thailand but they wouldn't take it. This was at the Chiangmai Ram Hospital and I was told that a farang needs a full medical and a report from a doctor back home. I know my blood is clean and thought fair enough if you don't want it I'll keep it. Maybe there is not a demand for B neg in Thailand. Fascinating. A 'farang' needs a full medical. So if I were in need of blood, the hospital would, presumably, be happy with giving me Thai blood of uncertain provenance, but not western-sourced blood, unless it had been certified. I don't object to an assurance that I'm receiving untanted blood, but I do object to the assumption that the Thai donor's blood will be healthier than the non-Thai's, an assumption that is almost certainly warped. And it seems they aren't happy with anyone who spent more than six months in the UK, between 1983 and 1996, presumably due to the BSE issue that was, endemic during in that period, and not to SARS, as claimed by an individual at Samitivej; subsequent long term residence in Thailand seems not to be taken into account. They also seem to ignore the many diseases that have blighted Thailand, and Thais, and the abysmally poor attention given to hygiene; that courtesy of personal observation.
