CCTV footage showing the duo.

PHUKET: -- Two men fled with B815,938 in cash after robbing two female employees from a Shell gas station at gunpoint as they arrived at the Tesco Lotus carpark this morning (June 11) to transfer the cash to a bank account.

Police said the two suspects held up a gun to the female employees and demanded they hand over the money at around 11.30am at the large Tesco Lotus on the bypass road. The employees did, and the two suspects fled on a motorbike toward the Central Festival intersection.

Police said the suspects travelled on a Wave motorbike, which had a basket on the front. The driver was a slim man, about 175-180cm tall. His passenger was a little heavier, and around 180cm tall, wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, and with a red helmet.

The passenger spoke in a Southern dialect, has “big eyes” and tanned skin, according to police investigations. He also had a black pistol, and put the cash into a Mickey Mouse-themed bag.

2 female employees carrying 800k to the bank.

Sorry, but I don't sympathise with the owners of the petrol station.

It was a situation waiting to happen.

Next time take more care of your money and how you transport it.

If it wasn't an inside job.

Big eyes, tanned skin, Mickey Mouse bag, nothing about big ears, so could well be Hello Kitty without make up.

Inside job. Just how did the robbers know the girls would be going there with such large amount of cash?

Finding a honda wave motorbike with a basket on the front could be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

800k from a gas station , thats circa 20,000 litres of gas.

Guess they dont do there banking everyday ...mmmmm...

B800k? Might have been an expat in disguise who was needing retirement visa bank deposit requirements.

Probably to finance betting money on world cup, expect few more robberies just like it to happened

during and after the cup... to pay gambling losses...

To expect any employee, let alone female employees carry that sort of money to a bank is totally out of order.

They wearing helmet. could be farangs

Or debt collectors......

...this cannot be attributed a a 'chance encounter'.....

Poor planning by owners/manager lead to these types of situations whether inside job or not...

Don't trust anyone and procede from there...

Another fishy one...

My first thought too.

I see this all the time at various 7-11's. An employee puts the cash in a bag right at the register where everyone can see, and off to the bank they go.

A disaster waiting to happen.

Can anyone explain to me why pictures or clips of suspects always are fuzzy?

Canon, nikon, and the likes, please explain!!!

800k sale per day in a tank station is not a lot if money. Thais are used to drive and walk around with millions, to save commissions from banks. Only TMB has changed that system.

Considering how Thais will go to the bank and make big deposits and withdrawals without problems it seems to be a ok system. How often do robberies happen? not very often.

Great, now they are ok for a retirement visa

CCTV footage of the suspects.

PHUKET: -- Police said they have “a number of suspects” who they are trying to eliminate from their enquiries in order to narrow the field down to those responsible for yesterday’s (June 11) B800k armed robbery in the bypass road Tesco Lotus carpark.

Muang Police Station Superintendent Col Sermpan Sirikong told The Phuket News this morning, “We are still trying to find them, and we have a list of suspects. This process takes time.”

At around 11.30am yesterday, two men fled with B815,938 in cash after robbing two female employees from a Shell gas station at gunpoint as they arrived at the Tesco Lotus carpark to transfer the cash to a bank account.

Police said the two suspects held up a gun to the female employees and demanded they hand over the money.

Anyone who has information about the hold-up can contact Muang Police Station on 076 212 046.

With the aid of that excellent photo, I am sure that these people will be under arrest soon. Why bother with a camera that takes such poor photos ?

Finding a honda wave motorbike with a basket on the front could be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

could be??? Now that's understatement!.. needle in a haystack doesn't even touch it!!. even describing the t-shirt and the robbers' other attire is hardly going to help as I don't think they'll be keeping the same clothes on to wander around starting to spend their bit of ill-gained lolly, somehow!!! (which they will) wai.gif

I'd still like someone to explain to me how the two robbers actually knew the girls would be arriving at THAT particular location, with THAT much money so they could be waiting for them. It sounds a little bit suspicious to me, like an "inside job" type of thing where the robbers are boyfriends or relatives of the two girls.

In other news - 6 toilets were stolen from Phuket Town police station. The police spokesman said they don't have anything to go on at the moment.

To expect any employee, let alone female employees carry that sort of money to a bank is totally out of order.

Are you against gender equality? Are you saying women are a weaker sex? lol
