Another Farang death from a motorcycle accident in Baan Tai

On Saturday night at around 11-30pm a van crashed with a motorcycle being ridden by a farang. According to the van driver the farang swerved out in front of his van and he was unable to avoid the driver. The farang, who so far remains unnamed lost a foot and died at the scene. It has

According to one of the readers' comments on OP's link, the deceased's name was Skippy, so presumably an Aussie. As you say, probably local rather than tourist.

He was a friend of mine and a long-term resident in Ban Tai, and leaves a Thai wife.

It was upsetting to see his photos posted on someone's Facebook page,(and made public via a link shared more generally) particularly their fascination with his amputated foot lying close to his battered body.

If it's any consolation he must have lost consciousness very quickly and probably didn't feel much pain at all before he died.

He's now the 5th friend I've lost through a death on a motorbike here. Sigh.

RIP Skip*y - you'll be missed.
