Longer free bus and train rides proposed

BANGKOK: -- The Transport Ministry is to propose the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to extend free bus and train rides till end of next year.

Mr Thirapong Rodpradert, the ministry’s deputy permanent secretary, said the long free ride for bus and train services was aimed at paving the way for the ministry and relevant agencies to arrange electronic ticket for pool bus and train services which will take a year and a half to finish.

He said after the free ride expires end of next year, the E-ticket system will then be introduced.

Two choices are to be proposed to the NCPO, he said, termination of the free service indefinitely, or to continue the service with conditions.

Condition is that certain group of people such as the handicapped, the aged, and monks will still enjoy the free bus and train rides while students may be given 50% discount, he said.

The two options will be proposed at the meeting end of July when the 60-day free bus and train ride expired end of next month.

The real criminals maintain freedom to travel where they like, and move from what to what? blink.png

That's a good thing, I often when on Bangkok take the free buses,

And it's good for the locals too..

So when are disabled friendly buses going to be instated? All of the buses currently and even the brand new ones are not disabled friendly at all. Even the ones that were ordered and yet to arrive aren't disabled friendly. The BTS isn't either. The MRT and Airport Link is, thankfully.

Free ? They would have to pay me to travel in those buses !

Im sure everyone will be heart broken to hear that.
