No KitKat for Samsung Smartpones in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Samsung started to rolling out Android 4.4 for some devices. But not in Thailand. The Samsung Service Center in Pattaya told me, Samsung Thailand will not rolling out KitKat.

May be somebody can confirm the statement?

I own a S4 Mini. Bought in Thailand.

I got an s5 and i bought it in Thailand it updated my device without problems. It actually asked me for the update so i guess those eligible will be able to get it.

You can look through the below list to see if your phone is listed and the date the updates are available. If not OTA then KIES download should be available.

Can someone explain why the exact same model number of Samsung would only have KitKat in many countries, and many other countries not? If its the exact same model, why not allow access for all countries? Curious as my model still stuck in Jellybean when elsewhere it is Kitkat?

I'm just guessing but perhaps they have to be regionalized or perhaps contract agreements. Never fully understood it myself. Believe contract services such as Verizon, etc. due to mass distribution of devices probably get first crack.

Look at the dates.

Roll-outs happen progressively in different regions over several months.

My phone is not on the list.

I live in Thailand and my S4 was purchased here.

It updated to 4.4.2 last weekend.

My phone is not on the list.

What is its model number?

GT-I9190, GT-I9192 etc etc

The model name is meaningless.

It's GT-I9190. S4 Mini without LTE.

I have a Samsung Note 10.1 and that updated to Kitkat 4.4.2 over the weekend.

And yet the more recent Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition does not update... Go figure.

My Note 8 doesnt have an update for Thailand either, yet. I could use the update for Dubai or Poland but I may as well just wait.

My Motorola Moto G has had 4.4.2 for months and we have already been told it will get Lollipop in a few months ... all for just 6k.. loving it.
