Shouldn't all our USA haters and bashers (Brits, mainly) all show up in force to boo and disrupt the celebration? Looking forward to speeches in perfectly-accented Brummie or Geordie.

I would certainly go along for that but only if water is free. I'm not paying 80B.

In the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783), France fought alongside the United States, against Britain, from 1778. French money, munitions, soldiers and naval forces proved essential to America's victory over the Crown, but France gained little except large debts.

Merci, France!

One question I have with events like this is it really advisable for large groups of visibly American people to gather together in large groups while abroad especially for patriotic celebrations ... without rock solid SECURITY measures?

No, this ain't Iraq, but it's not Kansas City either.

Of course the French thought it was a just and noble cause to support whistling.gif

Furthering their own colonial, political and economic agendas was only incidental. In true French fashion they managed to be part of the victorious side, and won a large debt for their efforts.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the USA haters and bashers that post on here weren't British.

Look at there avatars, style of English and use of slang words - that'll give you a clue.

Looks like some people want to create friction where none exists.
