Facebook Scam

Featured Replies

There is a scam being used by some unscrupulous individuals which goes like this.

It starts with an "English" guy professing undieing love for a single Thai lady and after some sweet talk on fb messenger, he sends her a parcel containing things like Apple laptops, iPhones Gucchi bags etc (you get the idea)

After a few more days a Thsi "lady" contacts the target and says that a parcel is waiting, but she needs to transfer by ATM the sum of 35k yo arrange clearance.

Our innocent young, single lady wanting to keep her fb lover happy, transfers the sum. As might be guessed by now, nothing arrives. The phone rings again and says customs duty has to be paid too at around 100k

Our innocent young lady (mug?) is now slightly suspicious, but transfers this sum too. Nothing arrives and the phone number given in UK is untraceable.

So far, at least one nurse at the Thai Hodpital has been hit.

Please ask your Thai friends to pass the word and be very careful.

This doesn't make sense. Or am I hungover?

Now if she was a smarter girl, she would be back on fb telling the "Englishman" that she needs 200k to get his box for him.....western union funds transfer or PayPal is fine, you hansum man you!!

The scam is happening. My wife has had several friends who asked her advice on the same scam script. She was able to track down the IP as being in Nigeria and the phone to an address located just opposite the Nigerian embassy in the London. So if there are that many in our little town, I can only imagine how many are being attempted throughout the Kingdom.

Yup this as been going on internet dating sites for a long time. 2-3 years ago one of my wifes friends almost fell for this but talked to my wife 1st you asked me.

a fool and their money...

Maybe they were blinded by love??

One friend of the wife had two guys try to scam her, lucky she came to me for advice and I saw through the scam.

He sent photos of a parcel with cash, phone, jewellery etc,and she too received a call from a Thai lady from "Customs",but looking at the exif data on the photo could clearly see it was taken a couple of years before.

Felt sorry for the girl,as she has never had a b/f and friends put her up to try online dating.
