USA Visa for stepson

Featured Replies

After 10 years in Thailand, I recently moved back to the USA to open my law office.I previously obtained for my Thai wife a 10

year multiple entry- exit visa with 4 years remaining. .

I called the US Embassy in Bangkok and was advised she could come to America and stay for up to 6 months..

My 5 year old son has a Thai and US Passport.

My question concerns my 13 year old stepson. We just renewed his Thai passport.

I want the whole family to come to the USA. What type of visa do I apply for my stepson?

How long can. he stay in USA and what is the next step to take so he and my wife can permanently stay in USA??

The wife also wants to work here.

Looks like Immigrant Visa applications, I-130s, for both wife (an IR1) and stepson (IR2) will need to be file with your local office of the USCIS, office locator here: http://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices

There's a host of good info on www.visajourney.com on Immigrant Visas, check it out.

Here's a comparison of visa types: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

And, more specifically, some Q&As regarding stepsons:

And, of course, the U.S. Embassy's www site: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html
