Having been given a great send-off at his former club, Muangthong United, there was a surprise in store for Thailand international, Teerasil Dangda, upon his arrival at Almería airport on Wednesday.

After disembarking his connecting flight from Madrid, Dangda was met by hundreds of Almería fans, all keen to get a first glimpse of their new star, who has attracted the most media attention in the history of their club.

“I’m studying, I only speak a little.” Said the player in Spanish, as he was given the warmest of welcomes by the fans of his new club, add in English that he was “very happy” to have arrived in what will be his new home.

Pleased, but clearly taken aback by his greeting from the local fans, Dangda will join the rest of the Almería squad in training on Thursday, where he will spend at least one season, hoping that he can forge a strong reputation for himself in La Liga.

Teerasil to wear no.18 at Almeria

July 17, 2014 3:41 pm
Thai striker Teerasil Dangda will wear No.18 shirt for his new Spanish club Almeria, which he joined on a year-long loan from Thai Premier League outfit Muangthong United.

The 26-year-old said he picked number 18 because he wanted to avoid the pressure of wearing No.10, which he used at Muangthong.

Here's a photo of the last time he went to play abroad.

2007 at Manchester City, with two of our (then) players Kiatprawut Saiweaw and Suree Sukha.

Hope he has better luck this time.

Well he's going to have an Arsenal teammate....

Arsenal's biggest mystery remains Brazilian wonderkid Wellington Silva, who is entering his fifth year on the club's books - and now his fifth loan spell.

Wellington was signed from Fluminese in 2010 for around £3.5 million, after he scored four goals in a trial match for the club's academy side.

He has been consistently loaned abroad after work permit complications, last season spending with Real Murcia in the Spanish second division.

He helped them to a fourth place finish, scoring three goals and providing five assists - but only completed 90 minutes in the league three times and started just 15 of 38 matches.

Now he has joined Almeira, who finished 17th in La Liga - avoiding relegation by one point, and will get a chance to play in the Spanish top flight and really make a name for himself.

didnt c him last season but watched him alot b 4 that. easly better than other thai strikers but without losing his balance and poise imo needs to strengthen and toughen up to be effective in europe. would be pleasantly surprised if he stayed for anything more than a season.
