I know a Thai citizen who has a ten-year multiple entry visa to the USA, but can only stay six months at a time. She'd like to go for about nine months. I've read that she is allowed to enter Mexico on her US visa (and she also has Mexican friends--no problems there). Could she go to Mexico and come back to get another 6-month stamp in the USA?

Someone told me they don't allow that, but that was only one person. I want to ask someone who has experience.

If she can't do the border run to Mexico, what must she do? Fly back to Thailand before she's allowed in the US again?

Thanks in advance for any expertise on the subject!

1. She would need a Mexico visa.

2. No minimum time in Mexico.

3. Re-entry to the US would be entirely up to the immigration officer, and she would need one heck of a good reason to re-enter after spending 6 months on a tourist visa. Risky at best.

Returning to Thailand for a short period would still be a crap shoot. Not to mention the expense if she is denied entry once she reaches the US.

She has a ten-year multiple entry visa so I don't think she'll have a problem.

My former GF (from Brazil) has the same thing and comes and goes frequently without issue. She typically returns home for a month or two between stints in the US so can't tell you how the officials at the Mexican border will view it.

Read the link I sent. If she goes to Mexico, Canada or most parts of the Caribbean for less than 30 days he original length of stay to the US still applies.

What if the visa is a US immigrant visa, Thai national, trying to go to Mexico. Can you search that one too oh knowlegable one. I tried but came up empty.
The only reason I knew the previous answer is that I have done extensive travel to the states on a Thai passport using a b visa, with side trips to Mexico. If the landing card is still in your passport then when you recrossed the border back to the US it was an easy and automatic process.
