Getting Our Discount In New Wave/The Lounge

Does anyone know whether the 15% discount announced on 4th July still applies? I ask here because whenever I ask about it in the bar I get either a blank look or an irritated look as though asking for the discount is not appreciated. As a result I have been paying the normal price as that's much easier.

If TV members still qualify how does a Blackberry user (no TV app) claim it, and does the discount apply to everything, food, drinks, and lady drinks?

That is surprising to hear. I would expect that at all. Are they a bit slow on the uptake? Are they completely ignorant of the policy (I assumed it was policy based on the previous announcement)? If so, I would probably be apt to walk them outside and point to the giant sign that says ThaiVisa. I would proceed to ask them if they even know what ThaiVisa is and what the relationship between the bar/lounge and website constitutes.

As a result I have been paying the normal price as that's much easier.

That's going a bit far! Do they give receipts? I would be inclined to hang on to them and claim my discount at a later time when the staff has been properly trained about the aforementioned relationship between the lounge and website.

I've been too busy lately to make it down there yet; although, I did check it out from the outside when walking by. Has anyone else experienced this in the bar? I cannot be certain, but I would imagine the prices are probably just a little bit on the high side. If I were running the bar, I would price it that way because I would anticipate a large number of the regular customers (85%+) would be members of ThaiVisa and claiming the discount.

So, I want to know if this has been the experience of any other members of the forum who have been to the bar. Is the discount that was mentioned on this forum mentioned anywhere in the bar itself? Is there some sort of signage on the wall somewhere that states the policy for the discount? Is it listed somewhere in the menu? It might be in small print at the bottom of the last page or something. Surely, there is a reference to it somewhere. I am finding it difficult to believe that the staff at the bar would be clueless about such a discount. It seems like a pretty big deal to me ...

I've been a couple of times since the opening. The first time, the girl wanted to see the TV app on my phone and in fact took the phone to the cashier to check! She then came back (thankfully with the phone!) with a revised bill deducting 15%.

The second time, I just mentioned the discount (to a different girl), and she deducted 15% with no problem.

Apologies if there have been a few teething problems with regards to members claiming their 15% discount. All staff at The Lounge Bar are now aware of the 15% discount. Posters, like the one below, are also going to be put up inside the bar in the next few days.

Also, starting tonight (Friday 25th July) from 7pm, we'll be putting on free food and snacks and there will be a couple of killer pool tournaments too.

The free snacks and pool tournaments will be a regular event every Friday from 7pm, unless we have some other event planned on that night.

We've also got what promises to be a fantastic craft beer and cider event planned very soon. We'll be releasing more details about this in the next couple of days but if you're a lover of really, really good beer then this is the night for you.

As mentioned, more details coming soon.

Thanks for your patience so far and please bare with us, The Lounge Bar is a new venture for Thaivisa but we're working hard to get it right so members can visit and enjoy a good venue in the centre of Bangkok.

So the 15% applies to anyone who can get a copy of the poster, is that what you mean? That means the discount is not restricted to Thaivisa members, why not just reduce everything by 15% and save the hassle of customers claiming it?

Carry a poster around? That wouldn't make you look cheap and daft would it? I give up, much easier to pay the normal price.

Imagine our amusement sitting at the bar watching the cheapskates take advantage of the free WiFi...some free nuts...taking two hr's to drink their lemonade and then demanding their 15% off.

Meanwhile the drinks will flow freely as we enjoy a convivial and intelligent conversation we will hardly remember the next day.
