To the Op.. What is the acceptable age difference between a married Thai man and his Mia noi?

Sent from my LG-P970 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Not acceptable in any age. Men do it whether it is acceptable or not because they think they can or the women allow them to do so.

Op ask Miss Kanokrath Booth a former Thai female journalist who had some serious foreign husband issues.

Do Thai woman have the male version of a 'Mia Noi'?

This age old question has become quite silly. I do however always find it a bit bizarre how many respond to justify their decision( there is a lot hidden in that I suspect).

I say whatever works, none of my business.

The OP suggested that a 20 to 30 year age difference would mean that the couple have little in common. True.

However, what would I have in common with a Thai woman my own age? Again, not much, other than some wrinkles.

I've been with my girl (who is 25 years younger) for 9 years. Some rough spots but every relationship has those.

It isn't always about what you have in common in the beginning of a relationship. It's how well you get along and make your own things in common with each other over time.

Yeah well I can't even begin to see the point you're trying to make with that waffle

I don't see anything abnormal about either scenario
I guess your right, nothing wrong with 40+ year old guys chasing women half their age - I think you said that before. Silly me.
Yeah silly you. Girls in clubs DO get older than 20 you know. You'd know that if you weren't so desperately out of touch. Go ask your wife if you can go out on the weekend.

Why is it guys like Donald Trump or Richard Branson can be bonking supermodels 40 years their junior without anyone raising an eyebrow, and yet all these 40 year old (or younger) guys in Thailand get so worked up about a 65 year old guy doing the same thing in Thailand? Do you really think people like Trump give a rat's arse what people think? Well neither do the old guys in Thailand, so get over it.  A 70 year old doesn't believe his 25 year old GF really loves him, he knows she's in it for the bucks, no different than Trump, it's only the young guys who think he's getting the wool pulled. When you grow some hair on your balls you'll understand.

Richard Branson And Donald Trump are doing it in their homeland and paying top dollar for it. There's something far seedier when a Western man comes to SE Asia and picks up a woman for a tiny fraction of what it would cost him at home. It reeks of exploitation.

No one's getting "worked up".
People should be with whomever they WANT to be with but they can't bitch when people make snap judgments or they are adversely by the reaction or behaviour of others towards their 25-40yr younger wife/GF.

Why?? Because it is NOT normal and people are people.

One of several reasons I decided to retire in a Thailand was the traditional outlook toward age. When it came to a relationship I found I was not comfortable seeing a 24 year old but there were other considerations, as well. There are 28 years difference between my wife and I. In my country, well, I would not attract such a woman. The age does not seem to cause issues. She seems to embrace the traditional pride in taking care of her home and her man. I am feeling quite fortunate and am envied by my male friends in the home country.

LOL

You wouldn't have attracted "such a woman" in your country because you couldn't afford it so you came here where they're more within your price range. Pure and Simple
Ha! Yes, I'll take that benefit and live longer for it. Unfortunately, financially, quite right to observe that educators are not paid commensurate with their education. Aside from the one huge benefit cited, it is a bit more involved. Home country attitudes, retirement finances, being Buddhist, my being at ease with other cultures, etc. Could have retired to a number of lower cost countries where I could have a more comfortable retirement than in my home country. So far, happy with my choice. Edited by wwest5829

what an absurd baseless statement, since female rice farmers most probably do not even exist in their home countries.

I understand your point.  But I do think the average teacher in Wisconsin makes $50,000 per year.  It was my experience that the average go go dancer in Wisconsin will marry a man making around $50,000 per year.  The last time I married a go go dancer in the States she seemed happy for about that amount although I had to get a second job if I wanted little things like food and beer for myself.

The relationship is an exchange between two people, whatever the exchange might be, it is between them, I don't really want to know.

All I want to know is how comfortable are they when they stepping out together. I guess as long as they don't care the gossiping, the eyeballing, and the labeling, they should be comfortable stepping out as a couple.

Please tell me that you are loaded with Viagra, lol.

You see  - that's the benefit of having a much younger partner - not needed.

Now Ms OP, how old are you and more to the point how old is your partner?

I have never run into a couple that were uncomfortable stepping out together regardless of how uncomfortable some old biddy felt it her duty to try and make them.  Now as far as Thailand is concerned that is certainly a non starter.

I was at a dinner party in Australia recently when a late middle aged Australian man with and attractive Australian girl in her early 20s joined the table. The middle aged woman sitting next to me said " Oh I hope its his daughter". The girl was his wife not daughter, and the lady next to me was most upset by this news. I think we have to remember that most women rate security the highest in their relationships with men, and seeing an older man with a much younger wife or partner is a threat, and this applies in almost any society.

In Thailand I am used to the looks from "white" women when walking with my much younger very good looking Thai lady - and I was concerned that it might bother her. But after an 8 year relationship she is like me now and ignores the looks. Her Thai family and friends (of all ages) accept our relationship (we will be married soon),and all is very friendly.

I was in doubt that our relationship would work considering the differences in age, culture, religion and values. She has excellent English language verbal and written skills and my Thai is improving but very slowly. But it works very well and we share many of the same values, and the cultural differences only add interest.

In the end any relationship that works is fine - regardless of age differences.

I like your reply. At least you questioned if the relationship would work considering the differences.

i am 70 year old and my wife is 23 year old we are married for four year now and we have a 14 month baby,we are very happy and spend 100% of are time together
we have no problem at all, before i was living whit a 40 year old women and she was  really bad after we start living toughter,i live her and was not ready to make a serious relation so soon, but my wife show up and it was a dream life so i married her,my wife love me for real no play game there, she never ask for anything and the best of all she as no more relation whit her all family...
so now what your guy are going to said!

She's just waiting for you to die? A 19 year old meets a 66 year old? She's thinking She's set for life. Just my opinion.

She's going to have to be patient, 66 year old could live for another 20 years, so it's a long term investment.

You know it is considered rude to ask a woman her age. I have always been attracted to the older man but he cannot be more than 10-15 years older than me. I have never been with a man who is younger than me.

My ex-wife (Vietnamese-Chinese) is 2 years older than myself.

My current GF is 14 years younger than me.

If one wants a relationship based on shared ideals, interests, philosophies, etc., then age many not be a factor, depending on the flexibility and openess of both parties to new ideas and experiences.

For me pesonally, based on experience and observation of other relationships over the decades, more than a 20 year age difference could be problemmatic.

I welcome criticisms!!!

^I tend to agree with your 2nd to last line. My wife and I have been out and met up with a few couples and it can be very awkward. I have found most with a large age gaps do not really talk at all with each other. They are "Just together" and usually the man talks to them like they are a child or the gal is more like a servant. Its more of a convenience relationship it appears. While I make every effort not to judge because its not for me to do, I do raise a brow from time to time in some cases. Fortunately my exposure is minimal where as in Pattaya, Phuket its very different. I also have no exposure as I do not go to bars.

Personally for me though I could not imagine being with a woman way younger than me.  I have no idea what we would talk about or even have in common life experience wise. I surely would not want to teach her. That just seems a bit creepy to me. My wife is older, educated and has worked in a professional career and has traveled a bit. She does not do Hello kitty, FB, or have a phone with bunny ears on it.

Regardless whatever works as I posted earlier. I tend to keep to myself

Just put it in perspective....how many 20 year old men date women in their 60s?

Highly unlikely, but if they do what would be the reason?

Expensive gifts or cash, the same as women.

Personally I don't think I would want a massive age gap, Mrs T is 6 years younger than me, which Is fine. However, maybe I should have a 20 year old Mia Noi, to make me fit in laugh.png

I always go for older women, when I was a young guy I went out with a 40 y.o Thai lady, I was 23 & did she teach me a thing or two.........but that's perhaps for another time.

I wonder if she's still alive ? :P
Lol, my first Asian GF was a Singaporean Nurse, I was 19 and she was 27. It was a good learning experience.
I remember the days when I use to perve on the young girls, now I. checking out their grandmothers & still getting some serious wood.

Love chatting up the old gurls in the old grandma and grandpa shops......especially when grandpa is out.

I prefer women without Teeth. :P

Lol, now I know who to call when I lose my teeth.
