I was looking at these today. I see the Mi4 is just out in China also. Looks like a great phone, all for 7,500 baht. There is a Thai FB page with a local guy claiming to sell the for 6990.

It's 1,999 yuan in China which is over 10,000 baht.

Seeing how the Mi4 sold out in China in 37 seconds you would think it is unlikely to be available for 7,500 baht in Thailand. The Mi3 was around 9,000 baht on release in China according to my neighbor who had one. It was a really nice phone, smooth as silk with a great screen but no Play Store as I recall but I only had it for a short while so that's the end of my review...

The one's sold in Thailand now have the international rom with play store about 8,800b but some special offers of 7,990 have been seen. I'm interested as an upgrade for my wife's Samsung core.

Mi4 seemingly isn't out of China yet. Need to wait a few months for international LTE version.

Where did you see for 7500b. I'm presuming you mean the Mi3 right?

ขายดิบขายดี!!  Mi(Xiaomi) Mi3  พร้อมลง Kitkat (V.4.4.2)

8800 baht here, which is fair price. Same price sold in Chinese dealers.

It is 240-250 usd in India / Malaysia etc. The rest is profit.

For this price this phone is great.

Well. Malaysia and Singapore seem to be doing some special offers. According to Kurnell. Hopefully these will trickle over.

I'm sure there's going to custom ROMs available on XDA or some other website. If you only want to make changes to the interface I suggest Smart Launcher Pro. I'm not one for paying for apps but it's so good that I have to recommend it.

After my recent fiasco with my i-mobile phone I'm planning on getting an Android landfill phone that you can buy spare batteries for. I'll never buy a phone with an in-built battery again.

No expandable memory so need 32GB at least

They do 16g and 64g. I'm currently running on 8g fairly happily. I use a duo USB drive for movies etc.

check the mi4 ,looks great spec except the 16tb only is available

Problem is that the global edition for 4g is not ready yet. Another few months. I'm basically after a good fast cheap phone. The Mi3 fits that bill perfectly. Currently can be had for about 8,xxx baht. And when Xiaomi release in Thailand in a few months they should be closer to 7,xxx.

Nope. Not yet. They keep putting it back. Possibly due to the cock up that is the NBCT.

I just got a message from Xiaomi global saying nothing yet. So I may wait. It's not urgent.

If they're having to sell in short bursts, that exhausts supply in a couple of minutes each time, their factories might not have enough capacity to expand to many more countries any time soon?

That article is misleading. It tries to imply that telephone numbers from the contact list get sent. When in fact it was just imei and Sim number. Bear in mind xiaomi is an internet company selling online. So a simple warranty backup. Google and other apps are doing this sort of thing all the time BUT they are not Chinese and they are not putting pressure on SAMSUNG. That's what it's about!

I agree IMEI/SIM info being sent seems acceptable/to have legitimate cause.  But the article explicitly says:

"The phone number of contacts added to the phone book and from SMS messages received was also forwarded."

???

That sounds quite unwarranted.  Is that happening or is it not happening?

Dunno. One source has come up with this f-secure. Did you read the link from xiaomi?

Been reading up on this and it seems it's only one model. And it's a mediatek chipset .. I wonder if that's why xiaomi are moving away from Mediatek and are going over to using Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processors?

Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Yes the xiaomi link seems generic boilerplate - the issue is that if f-secure is to be believed, *more* info than what xiaomi officially states is being sent to them... F-secure has been around got quite some time and though I never relied on them for my own PCs, they aren't really "out of nowhere" types?
