Is Janumet available at any pharmacy in Bangkok or Pattaya?

Featured Replies

I take Janumet 50:1000 for my Type 2 diabetes.  I normally get through mail from CVS, but too early to reorder and will be out of the country when extra pills are needed.  Does anyone use and purchase this medication here in Thailand?  I know where to purchase Januvia and Metformin.  Will taking the two separate medicines together have the same effect as the single combination pill?  Thanks for any information or suggestions.

Taking the two together will work as long as the dosages are correct.

Janumet is available in Thailand, though it is imported and will thus be costly. In Pattaya, suggest you try the main Fascino branch, North Pattaya Road near City Hall  - same side of the road about 100m further from the beach.

I get mine from Bangkok Hospital. Not cheap but available. Who is CVS.

In this German language article:

http://www.onmeda.de/Wirkstoffe/Sitagliptin+-plus-+Metformin.html

they claim that the combination of Sitaglaptin and Metformin "simplifies" a therapy begun with two dedicated substances.

(Sitaglaptin and Metformin are the names they use for the substances in Janumet)

Just simplify/making it easier.

Auch dient die Kombination der Vereinfachung einer Therapie, die zunächst mit Metformin und Sitagliptin als Einzelwirkstoffen begonnen wurde.

So really it sounds as if you can do the combination of the two without harm if it is substantially cheaper.

Both substances are on a list of essential drugs and medicines in Thailand (lost the link, I have it downloaded).

So maybe even available under the GPO label?

Thanks everyone.  Email from my doctor confirms that I can use the two together.  Leaving for Vietnam and Philippines vacation and can't get refill of Janumet from the states before I go.  CVS is a stateside pharmacy chain.  I normally get all my meds through home delivery here.  Will try in Facino in Pattaya.  I know that they sell Januvia at Boots Pharmacy but do not remember the cost.  Again, thanks.
