The 1^st possible appointment, 3 weeks! Then 6 – 9 weeks processing, excuse me I know I’m a bit out of date but it used to be 10 working days. Now in the days of tablets, dark-matter and cats with chips, it takes 3-4 months! Going by this exponential growth trajectory and Mr Einstein’s theories, they may soon be firing applicants into space so they don’t die before their passports arrive.

You forgot to mention the part about it school hols and thereby causing extended returns from the passport officials or are you one of those selfish people causing the backlog because it only right that you wanna take your kids abroad.
