BANGKOK: -- Four senior judges have been dismissed for gross disciplinary violations by the juridical committee.

The four judges are identified as Mr Ong-art Rojanasupote, senior judge of the Supreme Court and former vice president of the Supreme Court; Mr Singpol La-ongmanee, chief judge of the Supreme Court; Mr Adisak Timmas, former president of the Appeals Court and Mr Sitthichai Promsorn, chief judge of the Supreme Court.

Mr Pattharasak Wansaeng, secretary-general of the Office of Juridical Affairs, said that details of the four judges’ wrongdoings could not be revealed.

The four senior judges were placed under investigation after the expulsion of Mr Somsak Chanthakul, former Appeals Court judge, who was accused of mishandling the bail of one defendant.

An open, honest, transparent society...."details of the four judges wrongdoings could not be revealed" wtf.

Mishandled?????  Is this another euphemism for stealing?

One has to ask if it is possible to find JUST ONE honest government official in all the kingdom of Thailand!

Must be connected to the Sondhi case. That's the only high profile "bail" case in the courts at the moment. Gee I would love to know the details of that, he must have pissed some VVVIP's right off!

Completely absurd to think it has has anything to do with a ruling made last night as if a committee could be formed and a decision made of such a grave nature in a matter of a few overnight hours.
Utterly ridiculous conjecture... unsurprising, however, coming from a Shinawatra apologist. rolleyes.gif

There's been so many high profile cases in these courts over the past couple of years.

These dismissals could relate to a whole raft of issues....eventually something will come out about this....but it's an indictment on the judiciary to have 4 seniors bite the dust!

and yet, at the same time, reaffirmation to some degree that the entire system isn't completely broken in that they were removed.

It is not.

Maybe it's to do with the sandwich box bail that happened a few years ago!

How often is secrecy claimed to be in the national / public interest but is more like the truth is too embarrassing to be be revealed ?

Do these ' gross disciplinary violations ' encompass possible criminal charges ?  Oh I forgot,  the details cannot be revealed and will probably stay that way so things can be wrapped up and everyone's happy !

But it would be way better if the case would be made complete transparent and they get not only fired but punished-->jail term in a public process.

More potential ministers for PTP to select if they are to return to power.

Not in your deluded, prejudiced mind, anyway.

Shhhh!

It's a riot to see the conspiracies theories these guys come up with, don't go clueing them in... not that it makes a bit of a difference, being as clue proof as they are.

The judges will be hi-so elites and they shouldn't be embarrassed by revealing what mistakes(crimes) they have committed. The secrecy also protects the image of the judiciary which has to be seen as full quality people of the highest calibre.

Since all five of the most controversial cases are due at the Supreme Court, it seems like vote rigging of some kind that suddenly these judges are ousted for 'undisclosed reasons'. Yes I am fielding this, but the timing seems suspicious to me altogether.

This happens in the US, where appointments color the politics of many years to come--a way of 'front loading' subsequent support for pending cases.

OK, lets not confuse our red friends with some facts.

"Mishandled": they dropped the bag or forgot to share? Couldn't list crimes committed as it would be defamation if truth came out? Transparent as mud....

You and your 'likers', the usual suspects, also need to get up to speed, as the Sondhi antics predate even the existence of the yellow shirts by many years...!!

Just take pleasure in the fact that the good general is blind to any colour and is pursuing one thing, and one thing only, corruption...! That of course means that the former government are all crapping themselves right now...!

Wouldn't gross misconduct from a judge mean its likely they broke a law of some sort?

Any chance of a prosecution?
