Web browser print to PDF output font errors

Featured Replies

Anyone know workaround when printing browser viewed web pages to PDF on a PC (Win7) whereby the output fonts are garbled symbols? Happens more with Firefox and Chrome than IE (IE  has very few problems with this but I hate using it) with all latest versions installed.

One solution I found in FF was to deselect (allow web page to choose own fonts) in browser settings but that changes overall look of web site. The print preview looks great before the final PDF output with bad fonts.

Using Acrobat Print driver if thats the problem? Any advise appreciated.

I've never found a solution that does this 100% accurately (well a free one), but try CutePDF Writer.

Thanks. Cute gives better (albeit not perfect) results that I can use. I will now keep Cute and Adobe as PDF print drivers. Appreciate the lead.

One way I've found to deal with this would be to save the page in mht format, then open the saved page in the browser and give that a try.

Another is to send the page to another program, and then print to pdf from there.

Two programs I've used in the past were Scrapbook (a FF add-on) and, if using a PC, MS OneNote, which I think is now free.

With either of these you can remove elements from the page (unless you really want to keep those adverts for dating services smile.png ).  They also allow changing fonts.
