Hi all

I got a set of play station from japan, the voltage they using is 110 but thailand is using 220 volt ..... i am wondering should i get a adapter or something for me to use the machine in thailand , thanks .

Yes, you do need an adaptor. 220V in (from the socket) 110 out (to the play station)

Plug it in without and yu hear a nice bang and perhaps see a bit of smoke.

Where do i get the adapter , i am in Chiang rai now ......

Pretty well any electrical hardware store will have what you need.

Write on a piece of paper 220V -- 110V so they know what you want.

It is NOT just an adapter for the plug.

Additionally, Japan uses the NTSC television standard, Thailand uses PAL. Many Thai TVs will handle both but if you have one that can't you will probably see the picture in black and white.

the normal PS2 is dedicated to 110/220 Volt up to country.

The slimline is multicurrency.

Anyway without modchip you'll find out that you can't play local games....

I can replace the internal powersupply for the PS1 and PS2( thick model), that prevents accidents with an adapter.

Send the playstation to me (Phuket) with EMS and get it returned in one week with a 220V power suply and modchip.

With this type modchip all versions PS2 play all versions of games and DVD movies (region free and autoboot) and the ps2 can be connected without problems on a PAL TV.
