It's an Automated Parking Facility which has sat idle since it was finished. My guess is the guts of the building (the automated parking machinery) either isn't present or doesn't work.....shame as it really does spoil the area but I'm sure someone has benefited from it being there ;-)

probably parking for that new apartment building, paid for by the public, as thanks for all the money the.....for allowing them to block the view

It's meant to be a fully automated parking facility, but it may just be refurbished to Terminal 2........contrary to Terminal 1 which is being built along North Pattaya road..........the 2 main stations for the Mayor's Sky Train project. lol

I had a good laugh when I saw where they were building that revolting skyscraper. The occupants of that place will have a lovely view of the awful boat park cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif .

According to a national newspaper article the skyscraper might have a problem.

" The Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONREPP) will investigate a controversial high-rise condominium in Pattaya, following complaints that it is blocking views of the beach "

It's right in the way of the lookout.

I really, really hope they have to reduce the height, a LOT.

The developer is celebrating the topping out of 51st floor according to their Facebook page, totally unfazed by this issue. Maybe they have full compliance with the EIA and authority. Let's see what happen by the end of the week.

I disagree, you fail to see Pattayas aesthetic potential obviously

I was hoping there would be a post on TV about this. It's on the Thai news channels too. Just goes to show what you can do in this country if you have money and connections. What a shame they keep finding new ways to destroy the status quo all in the name of greed. This building is a complete eye sore and monstrosity. Now it will be up to the city to accommodate the access road to it at the publics expense.

a bit late in the game to start complaining - how long have they been building it?

Not seeing the potential has nothing to do with seeing--and not fretting about--the reality as it is and always has been here. Expect more of the same. Next.

Unbelievable. At my early times in Pattaya i loved to visit the park at weekends and do picnicking with friends. Sometimes they had live music and night-markets there. Was a lovely place. Both for Thais and foreigners.

What a shame.

However, thanks for the update johng.

the mayor decided that it would be advantageous to the public good if the only grassed public park in cntral Pattaya was turned into an upmarket car park. who were the intended users of the carpark is not known but it wouldnt surprise me if it has something to do with the waterfronts lack of parking space

Yea it really blew my mind that Pattaya had one yes one and only

one park ....Not 2 not 3 not 4 parks but one single solitary park in

all of central Pattaya and they chose to pave over and build

this monster on Pattayas only park....

O-well it fits in well with destruction that happened on beach road

around the same time...With-out trees day time walks pretty much

suck now...
