Shipping a bike back to the UK?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I'm entertaining the the possibility of shipping my Honda CBR650F back to the UK with me......
Has anyone got any experience in this, please?
I have emailed a few shipping companies, the two that replied was a straight no not interested answer.....
I'm sure it's possible, even if shipping via a container?
The import tax and costs on the UK side are the details I'm after. If anyone has done this themselves, pros/cons would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for replies.

Personally if me's I wouldn't bother, IMO sell it and buy one in the UK.

I wouldn't bother either, it's not a collector's bike or anything. Will probably have issues with some safety compliance BS anyways.

Cheaper just to buy one in UK ,don't think they are available yet but should be very soon

agree with every reply above. sell it and buy a new one there without any hassle. or maybe another bike. lots of choices there!

Bikes are very cheap in the UK man, as above posters say not worth the hassle.

Now if I was moving back to DK it would be worth the hassle, would like to bring back two but don't think it's possible as the tax man in DK is one of the wost in the world and will only allow one, bastards. Well I am not moving back anyway so.

Still including the shipping fees + any tax he'll need to pay, the 70,000 baht difference would be gone and lets not rule out any compliance issues there might be, in general the cheaper quality parts and materials are used for an asian market, so extra expenses of changing the parts + all the hassle = not worth it.

Providing you have owned the bike in your own name for over 6 months there is no duty to pay, done it myself once, only problem was testing in the u,k, they will not accept Orange indicators on the front.
