PHUKET: -- Phuket Town police found the body of a man floating in Klong Bang Yai next to the Phuket Trash Incinerator on Rattanakosin Rd this morning (September 7).

Authorities, led by Lt. Eakarach Chartpai, were at the scene at 7am Sunday (September 7) after they received a called from local residents. Upon arrival, police saw the topless body of a man, about 20-25 years of age and about 160-165 cm tall, floating face down in the klong and retrieved it from the water.

The body had a carp fish tattoo on the back.

Police assumed the victim has been dead for less than two days and initial analysis by forensic police found no evidence of foul play. Kusoldham rescuers took the body to Vachira Morgue for more details on the cause of death while police gather information on the man's identity.

At this time, police assumed the victim is either a Burmese worker or local teen who went fishing and drowned after suffering from leg cramps.

Sherlock and Watson could learn a lot from the Thai police. The Thai police are the smartest I have ever run across.

Not leg cramps, they meant leg clamps:

the news report states that the "Dead" body was topless. Does this mean he had lost his head as in recent 'suspected murders'.

If he has leg clamps, then this is somewhat suspicious. If he had cramps, No one is going to be able to tell.

Do leg cramps cause arms and hands to become inactive?

yes indeed. Painful and unable to move the affected legs. Panic, and you're gone. Just float until rescued, hopefully!

Why do you fish in the water and not on the bank or in a boat same as everyone else ?
