Thank goodness I found this thread.

I too am new to tablets - just got my first one, an Asus Memo Pad FHD 10. Wanted large-ish screen, but did not want to spend too much on a first tablet, so this Asus is WiFi only (no SIM) but has a microSD slot.

Question - can anyone recommend a Map/Directions App, which does not need internet connection but which makes use of the GPS functionality of the tablet? I will not have internet in a vehicle, but the tablet has GPS capability, so an off-line Map + tablet's GPS = in-car GPS.

And from where would I get an off-line map of Thailand (and perhaps surrounding countries)?

Thanks in anticipation.

Google SYGIC, does not require internet connection to use. You will have to purchase Thailand Maps but its cheap and well worth it.

Visit there site and read is my recommendation.or you can jump in, download there free app on google play and go from there.

I don't know of a keyboard app that translates directly but GOOGLE TRANSLATE does a fair rudimentary translation.

yeah it would just be nice to have them in the same app ,

so you could change keyboards , type and it would translate ,

then change keyboard back to other language and repeat

Just easier to have a 2 way conversation that way......

Post #7 mentioned that the FB mobile website uses less resources than the Ap.

Thanks, noted that, but my phone is so slow that I always try to avoid using anything to do with the browser. I'm using Opera and it takes a while to load on Nokia X.

Fast for Facebook seems to be quite ok. I used it before and now replaced the official Facebook app on my current phone.

However it would be nice to hear if others have better alternatives.
