BANGKOK: Phuket property companies came home yesterday (September 12) with a couple of fistfuls of awards from the 2014 Thailand Property Awards, announced at a gala dinner on Thursday night at the Conrad Hotel in Bangkok.

Phuket companies claimed the majority of awards outside Bangkok, scooped up four wins and six highly commended accolades.

“There were many exceptional entries for the 22 awards this year and the judges had a tough time whittling down thousands of nominations, hundreds of entries and visiting more than 40 short-listed developments around the country to finally reach their decisions.

Outside of Bangkok, Phuket developers and developments claimed the lion’s share of acclaim with four award wins and six Highly Commended, most notable being Point Yamu Villas by COMO by COMO Hotels & Resorts who won ‘Best Villa Development (Phuket)’ and ‘Best Hotel Architectural Design’, and were Highly Commended for ‘Best Residential Interior Design’.

The biggest winner locally was Point Yamu by Como, which snatched the awards for Best Villa Development in Phuket and Best Hotel Architectural Design, plus a highly commended for Best Residential Interior Design.

Absolute World Group won the Special Recognition in Corporate Social Responsibility award, along with highly commendeds for Best Boutique Developer Thailand and Best Residential Interior Design for The Beach Samui.

Sansiri scooped the award for best condominium development for its Baan Mai Khao project, with The View Kata Condominium being highly commended in this category.

Beach Project Development Group were awarded a highly commended for Best Residential Architectural Design for the Bugatti Retreat Phi Phi.

Fair & Firm picked up a highly commended for the Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach Resort in the Best Hotel Architectural Design category, while the Pavilions Estate was highly commended in the Best Villa Development (Phuket) category.

All the winners in the developer, development and design categories are now automatically entered in the fourth annual South East Asia Property Awards 2014, which will be held at The Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, on October 16.

Sales people, patting themselves on the back… How unusual. This is news? Or self promotion?

At least the nasty and corrupt realtors from the less affluent areas of Phuket (i.e. Rawai and Nai Harn) are not proudly, pompously, holding up awards. No vulture awards just yet in this line of biz.

How can a realtor be corrupt? Dishonest, untrustworthy, yes, but are local realtors really paying off gov't officials? Yes some developers have done so, but a realtor, really?
