OK you guys :o

Renter's insurance is a common insurance in the USA, similar to homeowner's insurance, except that it only covers the contents of a home/apartment/duplex. It's basically insurance against flood, fire, theft, etc. for your belongings. The best renter's insurance will pay for "replacement value"--meaning they will reimburse you for the cost of replacing** all damaged/lost/stolen items.

Now, know of any Isan sources for this kind of insurance?

**as opposed to reimbursement for actual value of belongings, which can leave you high and dry for older items. I had this type of insurance in the states, and once my car was broken into on a camping trip (the insurance coverage extended to personal belongings in your auto, as well). I had camping gear up to 20 years old--a lot of it in questionable condition. The insurance company replaced it all with brand-spankin'-new stuff. If they had given me reimbursement for what it was worth, I couldn't have bought half of a used sleeping bag!

Oh I see, you mean contents insurance.

My cover is with these guys...

You can apply on line and cover is about 3000 -4000 per year, you can pay online also.

I had to make a claim recently and they paid 54,000 Baht from a total claim of 59,000 Baht.

I ws burgled. The claim was handled via e-mail and the service far exceeded anything I have ever experienced in the west.

The cheque arrived 2 weeks aftr the incident took place.
