Property Rights Of Live-in Thai

Featured Replies

If I own a condo, and a Thai woman and possibly her child move in with me, will they ever obtain any rights to the condo under Thai law? We are not married, just living together. If we live together, say for 2, 3 or 5 years, and then split, does she have any rights to the condo?

No. Unless you allow her to register her into the house book. Then a relationship can be assumed. And you never know what a court will decide then. If there is no record yu would be save.

Remains the questions of course why? If you live 2-5 years together she would deserve some.

Where and what is a house book? How is it managed?

Yes, she may deserve something, if we are together for a long time. However, I would like to decide, what is, rather than someone else. But on the other hand, I know of a divorced Thai woman, who got nothing for herself, just monthly child support payaments for the child.

Is there some time limit for this acknowledged/registered relationship? If she moves in and a week later she is registered in the house book, does that mean she can take me to court 3 or 6 months later, and demand monies?
