I didn't know that there were warning levels here. How can I see my own warning level and the level for other?

you cant chownah its purely an instrument for monitoring posts

This is a classic, I was just discussing this after finding out I am several notches up and close for the big boot. Coincidence Chownah or has news of my warning level reached your ears?

As I understand it you are supposed to be told you are warned, although in my case I had received no warning pms and thought I had no warning level at all.

Its one of those warnings where you aren't told you are warned which kind of defeats the point of getting a warning.

Maybe those warning levels could be made viewable by the user, then they would be careful not to receive one again?

Otherwise someone reaches the magic 9 level without knowledge, they get another one and it looks to them like they have been instantly banned since they didnt know they have been warned at all.

I was really surprised to hear I had several warnings and was on the trouble maker list. I did take my concerns up with a moderator but told not to 'piss him off' or 'rock the boat'. I am awaiting to hear from George about this as I felt he was best to mail my concerns too but so far no reply. :o

I expect I'll get another one for this. :D

Bkk part of the process of a warn includes a PM or email to complete, you can PM me and I will discuss it further

Thanks Bronco, I did find out this morning the way the whole thing worked but received no pms for my several warnings. I contacted George to warn him of this apparent sytem problem so I'm hoping he'll look into it soon.

I think a viewable warning panel would be very useful for members like myself who on occaison make the odd comment that was is not deemed suitable by the powers that be. Perhaps this is an idea George and admin could take into consideration. :o

fair enough mate at least you know the process now

You did recieve notification of your warning BKK, i know this for fact...

Warnings are recieved as PM's or Email's

(in the case of the warning resulting in suspension, the Email method is used)

To the user it will look like a standard PM/Email from the Moderator/Administrator in question. There isnt any flashion neon signs saying 'This is a warning' generally (although not always) its made clear in the contents of the PM/Email that its considered a warning.

I have already spoken with George concerning your case, BKK, you will be contacted shortly.

I know another board that shows the "warning level" to the individual users (i.e. only you and the mods can tell at what lever you are at).

It is a good visual reminder to behave, lest ye be demoted/suspended/banned. If you "earn" a warning, it can be reduced by a period of "good behaviour".

They use the same software as here, just a different look. Not sure how hard it would be to administer that though.

I'll say it again, this is one of the best administered and moderated boards I've seen. People may not always agree with the way things are done, but doing them that way prevents this board from degenerating into a mass flame-fest like is seen on other sites.

I received no warnings to my pm box on TV or to my registered email address with Thaivisa. I have checked the dates of the warnings ( all three of them in 3 years usage of this site :o - what a rabble rouser I am!) against both of these mail recipients and neither have any mails from moderators or TV concerning warnings. No messenger pigeons have arrived on my balcony bearing news either.

Hence I would guess that there may be a glitch on the technichal side of this site. You know nothing for a fact unless you are checking my private and personal mail addresses and pm box to see what's there. I hope thats not the case but if you have 'know this for a fact' that I have received these warnings its an assumption I have to make.

Thank you Wolfie, I have already consulted with George about this as well. I look forward to his pm.

:o Agreed on the last part there kerry.

I don´t need nothing to remind me of where I am at. Just don´t flame people too heavily and you´ll generally be okay. Should it get out of hand, warnings are generally issued, and maybe once in a hwile that gets forgotten, but that´s the exception, not the rule.

I´ve had help me avoid a warning by deleting things I´ve posted when out of order myself.

Instead of spouting off and getting arrogant, "Don´t touch my post youMouthaterhjkerhufge!!!" I tend to be more like, "er.. yeah, oops... would you mind getting rid of the evidence for my drunken mishap".

Just like my customers in the bar. If they get out of order, and come back and accept responsability, then welcome back. If they deny and blame and point fingers, they stay banned.

You don´t need a warning monitor for respectable behaviour.

Some may need an world/life education though.

This board is gooooooood.

Good on you dear Lad. :D

Greetings from all of us in Kan BTW :D

What is my warning level at? I am curious, have I been really bad? :o

Bronco et. al - what's my level?

Cheers :o

I'd like to know mine too..... :D please sirs... :D

bkkmadness, out of interest how do you know that your warning level is above 0?? :o

When I was banned (with no previous warning) for 999 days, I was sent an email informing me there was a PM. I couldn't access the PM because I was locked out of all my controls. The only reason I knew I had been banned was because the 999 days was quoted in the subject of the email.

Not a lot of point sending PM's and locking the recipient's controls so that he can't read them??

But that's all history - I'm a good boy now. :o

BTW, just in case you're wondering, my sentence was commuted. - first time offender?, good behaviour? who knows?_<

I'll talk with admin about this Kerryd... I've had a look at that "other board" and I think it's a good idea too.

:D

It would also stop the flood of requests from members asking "What's my warning level?".

But I can't help wondering if it would possibly open another can of worms... :o

Personally I find it amazing that some of the more interesting members get chopped off in their prime. Unlike myself, who is on the whole just a lurker/reader, the OP and the likes of Moog, Scamp and so on are/were real interesting contributors to this site. Recently it seems full of self congratulating back slappers, one line smiley posters and sycophants.

I'd vote for the banning of lifetime bans, or at least some reconsideration as to how they are handed out. For the most part on this site, usage seems unnecessarily "God like", and therefore tempts users more towards creating multiple accounts.

Expire on your warning level and gets your account suspended for a period, fair enough. Banning people permanently should only really ever be used (if at all) for people determined to disrupt/abuse - how many people currently banned fall under that category?

Actually, for the most part, bannings are the designated reward for SPAM posts, which 99% of the ThaiVisa membership probably don't see because a mod has spotted it and deleted it staight away.

As you know, ThaiVisa has a zero-spam policy... and offenders are instantly banned.

"God like" or not, we like it his way and are sure that the general membership like it that way too.

Also, Only Admin has the power to ban, Moderators only have the power to suspend and remove posting rights...

I was having some hassle, during which a mod told me I had several warnings already and danger of falling out of the boat I was rocking. I was really surprised coz I didnt think I had any. But it turns out trouble maker madness has gathered 3 warnings in his 3 years stint at TV coz he's so out of control. :D I receive no notification of them. :o

The moderators and admin from thaivisa.com use this system to warn members and keep notes. There are two ways of setting up the Warning Level system, by percentage or by points. It is for internal use and not viewable to members.
