Over 100 investigators involved in probe of tourists’ murder

9-22-2014-8-56-45-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- More than 100 Bangkok-based police investigators have been sent to Surat Thani to investigate the murder of two British tourists on Koh Tao about a week ago, said Pol Gen Somyos Poompanmuang, the acting national police chief, today.

The investigators who include the best of the police force are under the supervision of Pol Maj-Gen Suwat Chaengyodsook, acting commander of the investigation division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, he added.

The acting police chief disclosed that the latest DNA tests of DNA samples taken from about 30 suspects did not match with the DNAs of the two victims or with the DNAs found on evidences collected from the crime scene.

As for the latest two suspects, he said that results of their DNA tests are yet to be known and, therefore, it could not be said at this stage whether the two had any connection with the crime.

However, he said that police had expanded their investigation and would do their best to solve the case.

And the farce goes on.100 extra personnel, indeed one can just visualize the competition twixt the characters involved and the total destruction of evidence and leads in their attempts at self promotion by these ''chocolate teapot characters'' in the Police farce force.

100 investigators and so may public announcements:

someone is getting caught, and soon

more than 100 jerks sitting around a conference table waiting for DNA results to tell them the answer and make it easy. Get out and investigate you fools!!

Has Inspector Clouseau been invited as well? Or is he still busy finding the diamond?

Reminds me of a Thai department store. A dozen people standing around with not a clue about where to find something that is sitting on the shelf in front of them

Same old, SHAME OLD, this is Thailand what else should anyone expect!!!!!coffee1.gif

For a change it's Too Much Too late

A small, dedicated team that knows what they are doing would suffice but TIT so none of the foregoing applies.

Why don't I find that reassuring?

Is is something to do with the general impression we have got so far or is it the old adage "too many cooks".....?

What I find disconcerting is whatever the outcome it would appear from the nature of the media reports that the police have little ability to handle or investigate a crime like this and seem pretty much unaware of their shortcomings as well.

One hopes that there will be a successful outcome in the end, for the families' sakes, but one would also hope that this will bring about a major overhaul of how the Thai police are trained to handle such incidents in the future.

Why only negative responses? Personally, I think there is a hell of a lot more police work being done than is publicised and instead of being so critical, why not let the police/investigators do their job and if anything, be positive. So, unless any of you 'nay' sayers know exactly what is going on behind the scenes, would it not be best to keep quiet about it?

They already know who the gangs are. However, they have not done anything about it. I don't think they will. We will see.

How many Thais take to screw a light bulb?

99 to watch and one to screw.

why?

There's an old saying that goes: a fool throw a stone in the ocean, a 1,000 wise men

will not find.... that said. I can't see any other way that this case can be solved but by

the Thai BIB, so let's give them a chance shall we.....

This has deteriorated below the levels of a farce to a complete and utter sick joke with tremendolus ramifications, that now the whole world knoiws that the Thai Police Force is full of numpty's and officers that seem to lack the most basic of skills .

Noddy's Toytown springs to mind the only thing we are lacking is Big Ers but then we have plenty of Big mouths uttering nonsense.

The next move no doubt the redoubtable Chalerm returns and fingers the culprits as he knew everything. Case solved justice(?) seen to be done.

I disagree:

if the 100, or even less, were flooding the island and knocking on doors, and guaranteeing anonymity,

they will get someone to talk,

not everyone will remain silent, as for every person afraid of the mob,

there is one business owner, or one house cleaner, that wants this to stop, and wants to see the perp locked up, for their own reasons, and the 713,000 baht

I doubt very much there's things going on we don't know about as to date the BIB can't stop talking.

Remember too the BIB, DSI etc have a habit of telegraphing their punches in advance about what they intend to do then lo and behold they can never find anybody.

It would be the obvious choice, as he normally knows "everything", especially regarding mafia activities. However, not really sure if he is available at present.

Yea, just say nothing. So what if the're doing a bad job - least they're trying, right?

Everyone keep quiet and think positively. If we do this for long enough, maybe the killers will hand themselves in. Leave it even longer and maybe we'll all just forget about it. It's giving some people a headache and that's not fair.

Solving the murder case is not enough. The island needs to be cleaned up. Bars removed, drug culture removed, all police fired or transferred and influential people banished. The murders are a tragedy for two families, but the feudalism, lawlessness, drug culture, police incompetence are tragedies for the Thai people.

10 policemen from the yard would have caught the killers by now this is turning into a farce as each day goes by 100 investigators sunbathing on the beach !
