Southern rapid train derails at Cha-am before dawn Thursday

BANGKOK: -- A Kantang-Bangkok rapid train derailed while it was on the way from Trang province to Bangkok last night. There was no injury in this latest train mishap but disrupted almost all trains from Bangkok to the southern provinces, and vice versa.

Spokesman of the State Railways of Thailand (SRT) Thanongsak Pongprasert said Thursday morning that the accident happened at about 2.30 am while the No 168 Kantang-Bangkok rapid train was running between Huey Sai Nua and Cha-am stations.

The wheels of the train jumped off the tracks but did not flip over, he said.

There was no injury to passengers on board, and they were all transported by buses to Hua Hin to continue the journey to Bangkok.

The train mishap, he said, forced the SRT to suspend its No 43 express train from Bangkok to Surat Thani this afternoon.

He said the SRT is refunding all passengers on this train.

The cause of the accident was not known yet.

Affected trains today are all rapid, express, special express, and international express train from Butterworth to Bangkok, and vice versa.

Passengers will be transported by buses to board trains at unaffected stations to further their journeys on trains to their destinations.

Affected trains are No 86 Nakhon Si Thammarat-Bangkok express train, No 178 Lang Suan- Thonburi rapid train, No 84 Kantang-Bangkok express No 42 Yala-Bangkok special express train, No 39 and 41 Bangkok-Surat-Yala express trains, and No 36 Butterworth-Bangkok special express train.

SRT cancels train service to Surat Thani due to derailment

BANGKOK, 2 October 2014 (NNT)-The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has canceled the train service from Bangkok to Surat Thani today due to derailment in Cha-am. The cancellation is expected to be lifted later today.


The train no. 168 traveling from Tang district of Trang province derailed at about 02.00 hrs when it arrived in Cha-am. Two compartments have been damaged. The SRT has decided to cancel the train service number 43 which travels to Surat Thani from Bangkok.

The remaining services to other provinces in the South will likely be delayed. However, passengers are still able to travel to Hua Hin from Bangkok with the service number 261. It is expected that the service to Surat Thani will resume at 16.00 hrs today.

Then it performed a Triple Axel with the dining car tucked, followed by a backflip, then curtsy and bow. However the train scored only 6.3 points (2.1, 2.1, 2.1) from the South Korean judges.
