Police and rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene. They found the front of a black Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d, registered in Bangkok, severely damaged. Behind the car lay one of the victims, attired in blue shorts and a white T-shirt. Approximately 10 metres away, a red and black Honda Scoopy i motorcycle, lacking a licence plate, was discovered with substantial damage. Nearby, the second victim was found, unidentified, wearing a grey T-shirt and black trousers with evident broken limbs and head injuries. Both victims carried no identification documents, only two mobile phones, some Thai baht, and Myanmar currency. The Mercedes driver, 67-year-old Somsak, a former Thai Beer House restaurant owner in Singapore and past president of the Thai Chefs Association (Singapore), was also injured. After initial first aid, he was taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital for further treatment. His passenger, 65-year-old Naruechit, recounted that they were on their way home after dining at a mall. He claimed the motorcycle, travelling in the wrong direction, struck their car while they were on the flyover for a U-turn. Naruechit noted his lack of awareness during the incident, as he had been asleep. Police have documented the scene and analysed dashcam footage, verifying that the Mercedes-Benz was in its correct lane, heading towards Wang Noi when the collision occurred. The motorcycle, speeding against traffic, crashed into the car. The investigation will proceed once Somsak is released from the hospital. This incident underlines the critical need for road safety awareness and adherence to traffic laws, as families and communities are left to grapple with the devastating consequences.
