Democrat sweeps 20 of 36 districts in Bangkok district council elections

BANGKOK: -- Official ballot tallies Sunday night showed the Democrat Party swept all seats of district council in 20 out of 36 districts where district council election were held.

The Thai Rak Thai won all seats in seven districts.

In the eight remaining districts, the Democrat and Thai Rak Thai shared the seats.

Each district has seven seats of district council.

The 14 other districts had their district council elections held earlier.

All in all, the Democrat won 180 seats, the Thai Rak Thai won 67 seats and independent candidates won 8 seats.

Democrat sweeps 35 Bangkok Council seats

BANGKOK: -- The Democrat Party Sunday swept 35 out of 57 seats of the Bangkok Council.

The Thai Rak Thai Party won 18 seats in the Bangkok Council while the remaining four seats went to independent candidates.

The ballot counts for the Bangkok Council election was done at 1 am Monday.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration announced that 41.94 per cent or 1,676,373 of 3,996,881 eligible voters exercised their right.

The Democrat also swept 176 out of 255 district council seats in the district council elections took place in 36 districts on Sunday. The Thai Rak Thai won 71 seats and independent candidates won eight seats.
