King's health improving

BANGKOK: -- His Majesty the King's condition has improved, with his heartbeat back to normal and body temperature almost normal, according to the latest statement by the Royal Household Bureau.

The much-revered monarch has been receiving treatment at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok.

He was admitted last Friday with high fever. Late on Sunday, he underwent a successful surgery to remove the gall bladder.

In its statement yesterday, the Bureau said the pain from the surgical wound had subsided and His Majesty was able to start eating. However, he continues to receive saline drops and parenteral feeding.

Pharmacists to demand FDA review new drugs bill

BANGKOK: -- A network of pharmaceutical profession is to submit an open letter to the secretary-general of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) tomorrow demanding a review of the new pharmaceutical bill which the network claim will enable health officials besides pharmacists to concoct new formulas of drugs without prior permission from the Food and Drugs Committee or to prescribe dangerous drugs.
