The Beautiful South

Featured Replies

Love them or leave them, they are one of the best bands that i like. Their lyrics are like poetry - funny, sassy and sometimes sad.

Here's part two. Shise i didn't know it went on to five parts when i posted the first part. So, i leave it to you to find the rest. Jools Holland at his bestest,

Still, great music and hope you all liked this silly thread. Takes your mind off other things eh?

By the way, the first version of this song that i ever heard was "don't marry her f-me".

The tongue in cheek humour throughout their songs just make me think of past loves and situations!!!

"When your socks smell of angels, but your life smells like brie."

Think that's right.

Pats, I've had a very exhausting few days helping a friend get away from the stench of his life as it was, hopefully he can get back to normal now, I can get a full nights sleep.

I'm only making this post so that I will remember to post at more length about The Beautiful South, who are one of the bestest bands to come from the UK.

Ok Pats, here goes.

I have mentioned it here in the past I'm sure, but just in case I'll say it again. I am originally from a town called St. Helens (pronounced sen telens by the locals)

I had been a fan of The Beautiful South since they started in the late 80's and owned everything they released. I saw them appear on TV in 1994 (had to look up the year) and noticed they had a new female vocalist, she looked very familiar and I was sure I had met her, but couldn't put my finger on where.

A few days later, in the pub, one of my mates asked me if I had seen the new girl in TBS on TOTP, and it hit me, she was a shelf stacker in one of the local supermarkets (pretty sure it was Morrisons) ..... bloody hell.

Great story!! I think they are great. It's the sort of self putting down lyrics. Part four on its way.

OOPS part five.
