Teac USB DAC

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm new on the forum and wondered if you could help me with some information. I live in Folkestone, Kent in the UK and find myself in Pattaya for three weeks on family business. I want to start experiment with DSD audio files and I have shortlisted the Teac UD-501 USB DAC as a good starting point for now but how to find it in Thailand is the question.

I am finding it very difficult to find any information about possible Teac dealers or shops in the main city centres here in Thailand so I can inquire about the unit price. This is my first trip to Thailand so I am a newbie on anything Thai. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a link to the DAC I’m talking about.

You may find the unit MORE EXPENSIVE to purchase here in Thailand due to higher import tax. Thais initially purchased the unit in 2013 for 40k฿ (£771).

US Amazon: List Price: $949.99 / Price: $849.00 & FREE Shipping

UK Amazon: Price NEW: £558.98 & FREE Delivery;

To locate possible local vendors, you can try contacting the Thailand TEAC Distributor

THAILAND KAMOL SUKOSOL ELECTRIC CO.,LTD
665 Mahachai Road, Samranrat, Phranakorn, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Tel: +662-222-2700 Fax +662-225-3173
I also did a Google Search: Thailand Teac UD-501
Found a good few mentions of local Thais using the device with their high-end DJ and Studio Recording equipment. Though no mention of local vendors.
Also the usual trash-talk, "its not a high end sound, but more of a dac for general consumer electronic use", and with people talking up the M2Tech Young Mk2 DSD or the Lindemann USB DAC.

You may want to look at the Behringer small mixers with a USB interface in your country, lots of choice, not expensive and come with a lot of software.

ProPlugin have it for 28K Baht: http://proplugin.com/pro/ducts-page/computer-music/teac-ud-501/

So do JetLive : http://www.jetliveaudio.com/product/1035230/TEAC-UD-501.html

There's a few people selling them on forums for around 26K

You'd definitely want to confirm they were actually in-stock though - don't assume they are - external DAC's aren't very popular here.

Thanks for all the information. It looks like I'll be better off getting it in the UK new from Amazon.
