Local politician shot dead in Rayong

RAYONG: -- A provincial administration councilor of Rayong province was shot dead before dawn Saturday in what police suspected might be from either local political rift or adultery motive.

Lying dead under large pool of blood beside his Toyota Fortuner van was Mr Wisanu Ketsuriya, 44, also a close aide to former Democrat party MP Sathit Pitudecha.

The van carried no licence plate and has long scratches on the right side of the van body indicating that it was bumped by another vehicle in the bid to force the driver to stop the car.

Wisanu’s son arriving at the scene told Rayong police that his father just drove the family back from Khao Yai national park Friday night to Rayong but he left home again without telling where he was going to.

However his father used to complain about politics after he was summoned to report to the National Council for Peace and Order when he used to take part in anti-government rallies held by the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC).

But police said he drove to a pub in the town.

Police said they believed more than two men followed and shot him.

He was shot three times on the chest, three on the side, and three on the hip.

A 11 mm pistol with two bullets in the magazine was also found by his side. But the gun was not in the firing position.

Police said the gunmen might chase and bump their car with his van to the side of the road in bid to force him to stop for some talk.

Politics and adultery are two probable motives in the shooting, police added.

The gun was not in the firing position

Shame, rules out suicide. Sorry to be flippant but what a confusing report.

"The gun was not in the firing position"

I do not understand what that statement means. I was going to ask here, what it meant, posted first.

What did it mean to you?

Puzzled.
