RO water purifier - filter replacement off-the-shelve

Featured Replies

hi there

we have a Culligan RO water purifier at home. it has been serviced by the supplier and they come per quarter for filter replacement : Pentek softener, RO membrane, activated carbon and polishing filter.

it is a big bill ( some thousand baht ) for these filters and we defer the replacement to every half years ( since low consumption ).

Amazon is selling these filters half the price than what we paid. wonder if we could get these filters off-the-shelve in Bangkok, and rest of the tasks are pity easy !

cheers

If you are not obligated to a contract for service, and the unit you have uses replacement filter 'cartridges' then you can service the unit yourself.

If you can't find them locally at a hardware store you should be able to order them online. The multi-cartridge package is not cheap, but cheaper that having a service contract.

How often you replace a 'filters' really depends on how impacted the filter has gotten due to built-up sediment and matter over time (reducing water flow to the RO membrane), and biological contaminants growing and using the filter as a breeding ground. At minimum the filters should be replaced once a year, and any bladder tank and tubing after the RO sterilized.
