HI guys, we are returning to Kao Tao (our 2nd visit) Dec 26,27,28,29. We plan on diving so either somewhere near Sairee Beach, OR, could be other part of the island if we can get a reliable rental scooter/dirtbike. We are already qualified divers so not interested in taking up any 'packages'. If not taking a diving course, lot of accom. is expensive (for what it is). Can anyone recommend anywhere? It doesn't need to be fancy but we do want hot water.

That said, we would be happy to pay a little more to stay at a nice sea-side accom. that is not near Sairee beach is we can get a scooter knowing that we are not going to be scammed (we rented bikes a lot on our last trip and never had a problem)

So u still want to go there despite the murders and the very questionable investigation and arrests?

Thanks for the link. After discussing with the GF we have decided that Kao Tao will be DIVE DIVE DIVE, so we are going to stay close to Sairee Beach. I contacted Suksamran Villas via Facebook and they got back to me straight away - http://suksamranvillas.com/en/

They have aircon room with hot water for 1,000 THB per night. I don't think i'll beat this and they are 700m walk from Sairee beach so seems ideal for us. Tripadvisor has favourable reviews.

Think that's us sorted! :) If anyone has any other recommendations please do let me know

    Your girlfriend is ok walking on Sairee beach again, knowing what happened?

    We dont need to go down that road again.
