How long would the journey be and how much does it cost? do we need to buy a advance ticket or just pop down and get a ticket ? what are the bus time intervals as well ?? thanks,., couldnt find any information online.. calibanjr. Posted July 31, 2006 Share Posted July 31, 2006 I definitely would look at flying AirAsia to Chiang Rai (around 1500 THB) then a bus or song thaeow or whatever to Mae Sai. You're looking at a 14 hr bus ride, probably 600 THB anyway, 900 VIP. , but just a debilitating bus ride, IMO. I'm a relatively durable traveler, but those long bus rides really take it out of me.
