Phuket Town Immigration

A quick diversion, does anyone know if Immigration are asking for money regarding certificate of residence?

They (Patong and Phuket Town) always ask for 500 baht, but will accept 300 baht.

But recently the big boss man stated "this service is absolutely free"

Yes same as the airport boss says that there is no paid fast track line. whistling.gif

Apparently there wasn't a fast-track line last night. A friend of mine looked for it, preferring to pay 100 baht rather than wait in the long immigration queue. One and a half hours to get through. Dreadful!

Ok.

Pardon my ignorance, but, can I ask, in Thailand, how does a foreigner prove he "owns" a house that sits on land that he does not own?

Does he show receipts from a builder?

Is there certificate from some department that proves a house exists on the land?

Just asking out of curiosity.

when i built my home here the permissions for building the house were in my name;

Contract between the builder and me signed by me an the contractor

the land office knew the land was mine ( the person running the land office was the uncle of the person who the lands name was in ) an my name is on the back page of the BLUE taam bien Baan book an NO thai name is in the front.

I used this when i last brought a bike ( 2 years ago) and got my 5 year license ( 4 1/2 years ago)

The obverse also holds true. If no structure is registered wi the Land Department, only the land itself is recognisable as being the property (taxable) of the company. You could for instance sell the house separately from the land upon which it sits yourself without let or hindrance.

To save two trips to Immigration, is it possible to do my 90 day Report and Registration of Residence on the same day.

Do you mean Certificate of Residence or House Owners proof that you have been registered at your place of residence ?

In theory you should be able to do both in the one trip (and pay the 500 baht 'fee' for the Certificate), but if paper signed by House Owner then you need to go to Immigration, get the form, go back and get your Land Lord to fill in the details and sign, then back to Immigration. Quite honestly the entire procedure is becoming more difficult.

Thanks LivinginKata, The form I was given from Immigration is "Registration Form for the Owner of Residence" with my wife being the owner of the residence and the same address that was given to Immigration at the time of renewing my Visa based on marriage for the past 8 years.
