Hi, I want to rent a car at Chiang Rai airport but noticed when I look online it states none of the car rental companies take Debit Cards. I have a US MasterCard check card / debit card and was wondering if this would be accepted or if I could pay with cash?

I have never had an issue renting cars in Thailand using my debit card or paying cash but have never booked ahead like this or if I did it was not with one of the big companies like Avis or Budget. This time I am just trying to confirm everything with the trip first.

Any info or recommendations would be appreciated.

Ive rented both ways...either go online and book it or do it when you get there. Credit cards are taken but not debit....The last time I forgot my credit card, none of the hire companies in the airport would rent a car without a c/card. I managed to get a number for a company in the city who took cash. She brought the car to the airport. Very painless exercise, the number is ; 053793683
