Sven moves on

You have to hand it to Sven -Goran Eriksson if there is money to be made by being a mediocre football manager he's turned into an art form.

He's parted with Guangzhou and been appointed with Shang East Asia ,as their new manager, on a reported salary of 3.8 million quid.

The urbane , Aramani suited Swede at his press conference said its a dream come true (how many times have we heard that)

He is probably the highest paid manager of all time when you add up his contracts and has made more money from being sacked than any one I can think of.

At the age of 66 you would think he has had his time in the sun but enough is never enough for some.

'Mediocre' is far too kind. laugh.png

Could never understand how he could pull the wool over footballing administrators, but that paled into insignificance compared to my wonder at how he could pull beautiful women!

I think being on 3 million quid a year helps a little bit getting the women.

Writing in his autobiography The Didi Man, which is being serialised in the Daily Mirror, Dietmar Hamann paints an portrait of former City and England manager Eriksson, whose "charm and sophistication" impressed the German.

Recalling a pre-season trip to Thailand, Hamann writes: "One morning when I was on a sun lounger by the pool, he walked towards me with a bottle of champagne and two glasses on it. It was still only 10 in the morning. I looked up and said, ‘Boss, what are we celebrating?’ expecting him to make the triumphant announcement he was staying.

"He turned to me and smiled that gentle smile of his and took the air of a Buddhist philosopher, as he said, ‘Life, Kaiser. We are celebrating life’. With a glass of champagne in hand he stood and looked out towards the horizon, then spoke in that higgledy-piggledy Swedish accent: ‘You know Kaiser, I like this place. I think I will manage for another five years and come back here and live with two women. Yes. I think I need two beautiful women.’

"He was a man who loved life and it was impossible not to like him and love being in his company."
