(Firstly, mods...I posted this in the golf forum...but as Pattaya has the most courses I thought I'd post it here as well)

In the holiday resorts of Portugal and Spain, there are often guys found on the 1st tee with a digital camera...

When you've finished your round you can purchase a photo of your "effort" off the 1st and maybe a group photo..

They make nice momentoes of a holiday/course...And seem to be a nice earner for the snapper... :o

I just wondered have any TV members seen something similar in Thailand, and do you think it would work as a business idea...?

Many thanks for your views

I think it's a good idea; especially with the large groups of tourists who come here to play golf.

However, you would have to have a Thai photographer taking the shots and some capital investment would be required for a decent camera, a computer and a reasonable printer; plus a deal with the gold club for a place to plug in the gear.

Good luck!

I have to agree, you may be onto a winner, the difficult bit would be getting "permission" for the courses etc

Good Luck!

If you did manage to make a go of it, I gurantee that within 6 months you would be 'eased out' by a Thai copycat competitor, or made an offer you can't refuse to "move along there please!" :o

Remember that photography is one of the profesions that is on the prohibited list for non citizens. As a result you would have to be the "consultant" who sets the deal up, trains the local photographers and trains the local sales staff.

This sort of "meat and potatoes" photography can be very profitable depending on how much the consession for the localtion costs. Don't forget any sporting event, teams and action photos can sell well.

Another version of the same thing is to photograph all the delegates at a conference and sell copies of that photo, again consession fees can be the killer.

Always cry poor, especially to the staff, so that the locals think it is not worth trying to cut in.
