Useful comments there Oby and true blue. Thanks. How about English language capability? Could you communicate with the dentist about the details of your treatment easily? (I'm talking about the dentist's capability, not yours!)

I ended up accepting treatment at the first clinic I visited after landing back in LOS, Dr.Sunil in BKK, basically 'cos I wanted a quick solution, 'cos I was too travel-weary and didn't really fancy traipsing round to check out other clinics in BKK and CM, and 'cos other patients that I chatted to in the waiting room were full of praise for Dr Sunil and were coming back for more.

Yes, prices were more expensive than those you quote for Fortune, but I was seeking reliabilty rather than savings. Two out of the three treatment plans I undertook there went well, but the 3rd is causing me some trouble, and it's looking like I'll have to go all the way back to BKK from here in Chiangrai to get this fixed. That's quite a nuisance, and in some ways I wish I'd chosen to try CM in the first place; going back to CM would have been much easier. We live & learn!

You definitely want those done right and not price shop...

I can't say with personal experience but my Dentist near Wat Prasign charges 55k and he is a stickler for quality but one man shop and light on frills.

There might be choices of implant quality also.

He is on road north and east of the temple. One road north of the walking street and across from the burger place.

All implants start with a titanium post embedded in the jaw bone. I doubt there are grades of titanium. So a lower price for the procedure is probably just as good as the higher priced places.

Unless the dentist has alcohol on his breath. I go to Elite for years now. Never had a complaint.

Although the price for implants has be going up exponentially, the price of titanium, along with other metals, has been dropping like the floor was taken out from underneath them. I'm thinking there are some very rich, and well to do dentists living in Thailand. Sort of like the endodontist I knew in the US: "I can't maintain my standard of living taking care of poor people." And there it is in a nutshell. Unfortunately.

Maybe to cover the cost of the construction of that huge, new building that was erected?

I was a patient at Empress for the five years I lived in CM.  Dr. Jarunee is a first class dentist trained in prosthodontics in Germany.  Her approach is to make sure that you get the care you need from a specialist who has a lot of experience.  So, for implants, (I have a mouth full of them that are almost 30 years old), you have an oral surgeon to the extractions and place the posts after the bone fills in. She will do the impressions and make sure that the bridge work is first class.

Bottom line, she does not cut corners.  Worth every baht you spend.
