I am currently looking into the possibility of opening a convenience store , just wondered if there are any major pitfalls other than the obvious ,licences etc

Licences easy enough. Electric bill will be crazily high. Margins crazily low. And if you start to succeed then 7eleven will open next door

Try to buy the most economical display fridge freezers you can afford

Beware of the free walls ice cream freezers they were electricity guzzlers

You will have a great gross but your Net profit is small

Also make sure you have a wholesaler close. Delivery or your own fuel costs eat into your profit

We. Were lucky as only mom & pop shop in the moo bahn and no competition for a mile around

Shop was part of the house so always had staff. Drop point for school kids In the moo ban was outside the shop.

Best month took over 200k net little bit under 30k

Now the moo baan has 3 shops serving less than 100 houses and 5 more shops within a mile

This was 4/5 years ago so out of date but should still hold true
